Labour Lies: More Cancer Lies From Labour Exposed – Iain Dale

April 29th, 2010 fitaloon No comments

As Iain says more lies from Labour are exposed:

Remember the GP who emailed me a couple of days ago giving the lie to the disgraceful Labour PEB? Well, he’s been in touch again and he ain’t pleased….

Hi Iain, I have just listened to a repeat of an earlier showing of the Daily Politics (from Wednesday where Andrew Neil asks Ed Balls about the controversial bit of that PEB (ie the emotive bit relating to the two week cancer wait) –and in reply Ed Balls added a few more embellishments.

He claimed that Labour have promised to treat cancer patients within two weeks! (and of course by inference that the nasty Tories won’t and that this will be ‘bad for people’).

This is, of course, a load of cobblers – there is nothing at present which guarantees cancer treatment in two weeks, and as in my earlier email, the Labour policy on the 2 week wait has caused delays in instigating cancer treatment. Also, the Labour Party manifesto doesn’t guarantee cancer treatment in 2 weeks. There is reference to being able to get treatment in 18 weeks, but frankly even our NHS is presently managing to start cancer treatments in 18 weeks given that it would be clinically negligent not to.

I do resent lies being told about the work I try to do and the public being wilfully misled – and by a government minister. I am not a member of any political party – and in the past have voted for all the major parties! But I have to say I agreed with Michael Gove that it was an appalling PEB and was unimpressed with Balls for his refusal to condemn this sort of campaigning, and particularly his embellishing it with blatant (peppa) porkies.

There you have it.

What this really exposes is the statist government we have under Labour. All about stupid “guarantees” that only ensure our NHS is now just a tick-box protocol. If you have ticked the right boxes then all independent thought is removed.

We need to get back to a position where we put some thought into our actions and not just let the state decide what is best for you.

Time for Change, Vote for Change, Vote Conservative.

Labour Ineptitude – Billions Wasted by Labour on NHS IT

April 19th, 2010 fitaloon No comments

According to the Telegraph:

A controversial scheme to upload confidential medical records to a national database has been suspended following public outcry.

This is the Labour driven national database system for Summary Care Records (SCR)which has cost some 12.4 billion so far. Originally expected to cost £2.3 billion over three years, in June 2006 the total cost of the NHS National Programme for IT was estimated by the National Audit Office to be £12.4bn over 10 years. Not bad for a Labour Government IT inititaive

The SCR system was criticised by the British Medical Association (BMA) last month in a letter to health minister Mike O’Brien. The letter said there were some privacy concerns around the scheme and that patients should be able to “opt out” if they wanted.

All I can say is read this article,

Trying to scare Cancers Sufferers is the lowest of the low.

How they got the addresses is also a bit of a mystery.

I can’t say anymore I am so disgusted.

Labour hid ugly truth about National Health Service

March 7th, 2010 fitaloon No comments

The Times has a report on some damning reports on the state of the NHS. According to the Times:

They diagnose a blind pursuit of political and managerial targets as the root cause of a string of hospital scandals that have cost thousands of lives.

The harsh verdict on the state of the NHS, after a spending splurge under Labour between 2000 and 2008, raises worrying questions about the future quality of the health service as budgets are squeezed.

One report, based on the advice of almost 200 top managers and doctors, says hospitals ignored basic hygiene to cram in patients to meet waiting-time targets.

Apparently the three reports were commissioned  by Lord Darzi, the former health minister from international consultancies to assess the progress of the NHS as it approached its 60th anniversary in 2008. They have come to light after a freedom of information request.

The reports show such things as:

A damaging rift between doctors and managers: “The GP and consultant contracts are de-professionalising, and have had the peculiar effect of simultaneously demoralising and enriching doctors. We’ve lost the volitional work of the doctors and far too many of us are now just working to rule.”

Pointless new structures. “Stop the restructurings. The only thing they generate is redundancy payments.” One body responsible for improving standards reported to five different ministers and had three different names in the space of 30 months.

A culture of fear and slavish compliance. “The risk of consequences to managers is much greater for not meeting expectations from above than for not meeting expectations of patients and families.”

Do read the whole article to get a feeling of how much of YOUR money Labour have pissed against a wall.

How can the Department of Health have spent 27 million on polling?

February 13th, 2010 fitaloon 1 comment

According to the Telegraph in an article about Labour’s proposed 10% Death Tax

The Department of Health has spent more than £27 million on Ipsos-Mori polls since 2001.

How the hell have they managed this? Why are they wasting OUR money like this.

On the rest of the article I’ll wait to see what happens tomorrow when  the three health spokesmen are all appearing on the Politics Show. Expect Burnham to be having hissy fits.

According to the Speccie

PS One amusing aspect of this whole story is that Burnham set out his principles for dealing with long term care to his Lib Dem and Tory numbers in a text message, hardly suggesting that he went into great detail.
