Randolph's Leap (14 photos)
Randolph's Leap. Randolph didn't jump across the river. He was the Earl of Moray in the mid-14th Century. An enemy he was pursuing one day made good his escape by leaping across it here. You might like to visit the nearby Randolph's Leap and the Visitor Centre at Logie (006505), where there are craft shops, restaurant and toilets.

Forest of Birse (11 photos)
This wonderful little glen is at the end of a dead-end road. There is a small church at end of the road, which is still used monthly in the summer and for weddings. The forest hs now all but disappeared with just woods along the burn. When I went here I glanced at the visitors book to see that the last people who had signed were friends of mine from Aberdeen. It is indeed a small world.

Finzean Sawmill (15 photos)
An old sawmill still in use on the banks of the Feugh River just outside Finzean in Aberdeenshire. I initially stopped to take a photo of the rickety buildings but was fascinated by the actual sawmill as well. It was like a glimpse into a bygone age.
This is the last remaining water powered Sawmill in Scotland. See www.birsecommunitytrust.org.uk/Watermills/Finzean%20Wood%...
